The Ice House Artist Cooperative is always looking for new artists to join the co-operative!

If you are an artist that lives between Haidia Gwaii and Telkwa, please submit an application. We love to see new art in the gallery.

Who are we?

We are the North Coast Artist Cooperative, an association formed and operated in Prince Rupert, British
Columbia for the benefit of its members. Our members works are presented at the Ice House.

How to Apply?

We currently have 40+ members and are accepting active membership applications. Active members must volunteer a minimum of 3 hours/week at the gallery. (Please inquire within regarding availability of non-active memberships as accommodations may be made.)

A good representation of your work must be submitted and appear as it would for sale and display in the store. I.E. all painting, drawings must be title, framed, and/or glazed and ready for hanging. All work must be intended for sale. Your work will be juried by our Selection Committee. Please plan to bring work in for jurying before the monthly board meeting (last week of every month) and arrange to pick up the following week. The applicant will be notified within 3 or 4 days following the jurying process (usually via email) and further arrangements can be made for pickup or display. All juried decisions are final.

Nitty Gritty:

Your annual fee. and share fee (a one time fee of $5 that will be returned to you when you leave the gallery) will be billed to you upon acceptance and must be paid prior to display of art in the gallery. Fees are paid annually and initial membership will be prorated. Presently we have a one year contract that is signed upon acceptance and will be reviewed after 1 year depending on sales.

The current percentage commission (25%) for all sales will be charged as well as. annual membership fee of $170 for active members.

Prospective Members Must Submit:

  • Artist statement or bio
  • Price list
  • Art – a good representation of work must be submitted and appear as it would for sales and display in the gallery

  • Workmanship, Quality
  • Originality, Design, Display
  • Suitability, Gallery Space
  • Uniqueness to Gallery
  • Gov. safety, health, labeling
