Joanne Ritchie

About the Artist

@inkeefiddlings
Originally from Australia, after traveling the world, Joanne and her family now call beautiful Prince Rupert home. After studying Design many years ago and having her own dress making business, it is here in Prince Rupert that her love of Mixed Media art was rekindled.
Joanne uses many mediums as her starting point for her art. Printer paper, old encyclopedia pages, old novels, her children’s uni textbooks, even 200 year old hand written pages found in France, these have all been volunteered/sacrificed for backgrounds on her pieces.
Many of her backgrounds begin with a gelprint in acrylic paints. Distress inks/oxides or alcohol inks are also willing participants to begin her backgrounds. To these backgrounds more stencils can be added with either paint, distress inks/oxides, pigment powders, and/or assorted pastes or stencil butters. Stamping in archival inks often features on her work, as does heat embossing.
Embellishments of vintage ephemera, flowers, die-cuts, paperdolls, lace, fabric, buttons, and collage pieces all at some time find their way onto Joanne’s work. As does sparkle in many forms – be it with gems, gold and silver flakes, rhinestones, glitter, and/or mica spray.
The finishing touch for much of Joanne’s work is the occasional quote and sayings on her creations.
