Alana Rice

About the Artist

Alana Rice uses the environment of the North Coast of British Columbia to influence her artwork. Working mainly in oil paint with broad brush strokes and palette knife textures she paints impressionistic images of green, lush forests, wandering creeks, mystic oceans, forgotten fishing boats and silent cargo ships. Rice also works in India ink and watercolour to sketch other areas of Northern BC, capturing the majestic beauty of mountains and lakes. Her paintings and sketches reflect her love of home, and the peace and security she feels being a part of her community.
Alana Rice grew up in the arid climate of Kamloops, BC and now happily calls the temperate rainforest of Prince Rupert home. She finds endless inspiration in the magnificent landscape of the North Coast and along the shores of the Skeena River.
She studied Fine Art at the University College of the Cariboo, but switched to Arts to a BA and going on to earn a BEd at the University of Victoria.
Alana now breaks up her time by teaching and painting every spare moment.
